Late Fees and Shut Off for Non Payment

Effective March 23, 2020, The following temporary policy changes have been put in place. 

  1. Late fees will continue to be accessed for water/sewer statements not paid by the due date. However, if you or your household has been negatively impacted by the COVID 19 pandemic, please contact our office and if you can provide documentation that you have been laid off, your household has been quarantined or other unfortunate circumstances dealing with this outbreak, we will waive your late fees.
  2. Additionally, Centerton Utilities will not be disconnecting persons during this pandemic. If you are unable to pay, we ask that you contact this office to make arrangements. Please do not misunderstand, this is not a waiver of the bill, just a postponement to a time when you can get back to work. "Hardship" agreements will be initiated, which will allow time for you to get back on your feet. CAUTION: The amounts placed on "Hardship" will eventually have to be paid. At this time, the federal government has not made any offer to cover or waive these payments. Federal law requires us to charge for water sales and until they do something to change that, we will have no choice but to come back at a later time and collect all outstanding water bills. 
  3. As you may know, our lobby is closed to the public. You can make your payment via our website www.centertonutilities.com, over the phone through our 24-hour automated system, speak with a customer associate and pay through them (479)795-0222, mail in your payment or use one of our drop boxes. Please do not put cash in the dropbox. PLEASE NOTE: We cannot control the convenience fee being charged by the credit card processor. We have contacted them and asked them to waive the fees. At this time they have chose not to waive those fees. If you do not want to pay that fee, please use the drop boxes and drop off a check or money order.

We have close to 10,000 accounts. Please work with us and please do not just assume we are aware of your situation. It is very important you communicate with us in order to receive a "Hardship Agreement".

Lastly, we want you to know we are here to help during this rough time. Please understand we will do everything we can to assist, but there is only so much we can do too.
