City of Centerton is seeking citizens to serve on the
Centerton Waterworks and Sewer Commission

 

The Centerton Waterworks and Sewer Commission will have a vacancy on January 1, 2025.  Residents are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility requirement is you be a qualified elector residing in the city.

Commissioners are appointed to terms of eight years and they may be reappointed

To Apply for appointment as a Commissioner:

Submit a Letter with a brief statement of why you want to serve as a commissioner with a resume or a statement of your education and work experience.

Applications may be mailed or hand delivered to Centerton Utilities, 517 North Main Street, Centerton, AR 72719 or emailed to admin@centertonutilities.com.

Applications must be received not later than 4PM, 6 December 2024.

The Waterworks and Sewer Commission will review the applications and interviews may be requested before making recommendations to the Centerton Mayor. The City Council will vote on the Mayor’s appointment.

Arkansas law requires that persons appointed to the Commission must complete 8 hours of state specified instruction in subjects pertaining to water and sewer management within 12 months of appointment.  Instruction is at no cost and can be completed in-person or online.

About the Centerton Waterworks and Sewer Commission

The Centerton Waterworks and Sewer Commission, doing business as Centerton Utilities, is an enterprise fund of the City of Centerton and charged with operation and maintenance of city water utilities. Centerton Utilities provides potable water service to over 11,500 residences in four cities and surrounding rural areas and provides sewer service to 8,500 residences.

Centerton Utilities has a staff of 38 employees operating under the direction of the Utilities Director, a licensed Professional Engineer.

The Centerton Utilities administrative office and the William Lee Coffelt Training Center are located at 517 North Main Street. The operations center is located at 500 Keller Road.

Centerton Waterworks and Sewer Commission meets monthly on the third (3rd) Tuesday of each month at 8:30 AM in the Centerton Utilities administrative office. Special meetings are held as required. Commissioners are compensated at the rate of $200 per meeting.
